To all the People, Friends, Partners and Colleagues who make up the Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees of the Middle East Council of Churches
Greetings on behalf of each and every one of the Department as we want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving which falls this year on Thursday, November 26th . Thanksgiving is imprinted not simply on the American mind as it is traditional also in various countries and cultures to give thanks to the bounties bestowed by God and to remind oneself that despite all the ills, and the pandemic this year continues to take its toll, it is life that was bestowed on us that give us reason to be thankful. We are all, in one sense or another, pilgrims like those who celebrated on America’s soil their first harvest festival of Thanksgiving back in 1621. As pilgrims we need to appreciate the blessings we have and given the temporary nature of a pilgrim life, Thanksgiving reminds us all that it is the togetherness of all of us that truly reflect the magnitude of God’s benevolence and generosity.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.
